This project explores the stories of all people with periods. We aim to encourage expression, conversation, and acceptance about periods through art, storytelling, and advocacy. We aim to tackle the narrow, common narrative around periods that so often drips with negativity and shame. We hope to encourage people to express their feelings about periods openly and by doing so, begin to represent the multidimensional experiences that people have with periods. This project seeks to break the stigma and reframe periods as sometimes beautiful, sometimes painful, sometimes a nuisance, sometimes celebratory, yet always unique to the individual and always part of a great and vast web of stories and feelings.
All art and poetry is submissions based. If interested in contributing art or being part of our video series, please email: firstname.lastname@example.org.
People Have Periods is also affiliated with Camions of Care, a non-profit that manages and celebrates menstrual hygiene through advocacy, education, and service, through the global distribution of feminine hygiene product care packages to women in need. Visit the action page to get involved.
